Eine tolle Fortsetzung! Ich habe den Band gleich in einem verschlungen. Am Ende kann man sagen, ein sehr gelungener 7er Teil und einer der besten BL bzw. Yaoi Mangas die ich je gelesen habe. Vorallem kriegt es die Liebe Kaori Monchi sehr gut hin, einen auf die Folter zu spannen und das macht den Yaoi doch um einiges lesenswerte, denn bei den meisten BL Geschichten, die ich kenne, gehts schnell rein und dann wieder raus. Hier wird man mit einer schönen Mischung aus Erotik und Romantik bedient. Ich freu mich auf Band 8.

Dieser Teil ist wieder einmal super gelungen ich habe es zwei mal hinter einander gelesen einfach super die ersten teile waren sehr gut und meine erwartung hat es voll getroffen.freue mich schon auf den nächsten teil.

Bin absolut begeistert. Jeder der sich um seine Mond- oder gar Mars-Reise von der Kriegsindustrie und Finanzwahn betrogen fühlt wird in diesem Buch wenigstens eine gute Portion Trost und Hoffnung finden, denn die goldenen Jahren des amerikanischen Apollo-Programs werden hier mit Akribie und viel menschlicher Wärme lebendig gehalten.

Great Book !A must for everybody interested in mankind greatest adventure.Tolles Buch !Wer sich für das größte Abenteuer der Menschheit interessiert, sollte dieses Buch lesen.Es ist nicht technokratisch geschrieben, man sollte allerdings gute englisch Kenntnisse haben.

This book goes beyond a retelling of the event - you can synthesise for yourself that Neil Armstrong was the only person who could be trusted with the responsibility of bringing the Apollo program to the required results - "to land a man on the moon and return him safely to earth".And this inherent skill as a cool engineer still shows through today. He just gets on with the job and has set the event in a perspective that records the acheivement without demanding a place of honour for himself. Frank Borman was the only other choice and he passed over having his fame assured with the Earthrise photograph coming from his mission.You will read how the others that followed did not have the required detachment - some went off chasing religious shadows, others never fitted the event into getting on with the next thing in their life.The Apollo 13 movie in part makes the point that the world had become bored with spaceflight - this is more the fault of the screw ups on Apollo 12 than anything else. Why you would give two navy flyers the responsibility is difficult for even the author to cover off - they destroyed the colour TV camera the instant they started to use it, so no live pictures and thus the inevitable public turn off and thus the loss of public interest in the Apollo program.This is a great book - more for the way it shows the inner resoucefulness and cool decision making skills of Borman and Armstrong, and the nearly as good skills of the others.It's a great read.

Andrew Chaikin provides a great story about the Apollo program that brought 24 astronauts to the Moon and safely back to Earth. And it is not a provision of technical details, instead the riveting descriptions center on people, their feelings and impressions, their fears and expectations. On following the lines it is almost possible to gain some sense of the vast distances or of the loneliness the pilot of the command module could experience as he orbits the Moon, especially on the far side without contact to any other human being, while his companions explore the surface of this strange and remote world.

I have read and re-read numerous books about the space program, but this one, along with Eugene Cernan's The Last Man on the Moon, is, in my opinion, the most intreresting and informative in the lot. It is very well organized and very well researched; Chaikin had interviewed all of the astronauts extensively for the previous decade, and came to terms with their feelings and state of mind upon entering lunar orbit on the voyage of a lifetime. Containing fascinating narrative of all the Apollo missions, Chaikin contains tidbits of the astronauts' thoughts and feelings, and provides exciting descriptions of the major events of the Apollo missions: the liftoff from Cape Kennedy, the lunar landing, the piloting challenge of a lifetime for the astronauts, the moonwalk, and the return to earth. You will be hard pressed to find a better book about the Apollo Program.

I bought several copies of this fabulous work by Andrew Chaikin. This is the best book I can think of to give as a gift to anyone interested in space or history. This book is so good that astronaut Janice Voss took it with her into orbit on her last space shuttle mission. In fact, her crewmates on STS-99 borrowed the book from Janice to read during their breaks from mission routine. A MAN ON THE MOON is essential reading for any individual interested in the space program or American history.Chakin captures the details and spirit of the Space Race better than any author. The author met and interviewed all of the key Apollo players when thay were still alive and he also actually witnessed one of those mighty Saturns leave the earth for the moon. I bought this book not just for myself, but for my children and their future children to enjoy and benefit from.

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Xiaolu Guo was born in south China. She studied film at the Beijing Film Academy and published six books in China before she moved to London in 2002. Her books include Village of Stone which was shortlisted for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers which was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction, 20 Fragments of a Ravenous Youth which was longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize, and I Am China which was longlisted for the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction. In 2013 she was named as one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists. Xiaolu has also directed several award-winning films including She, A Chinese and a documentary about London, Late at Night. She lives in London.

Sehr schönes Buch von Xiaolu Guo und wirklich rasche Lieferung zu einem äußerst günstigen Preis.Es empfiehlt sich, dieses Buch im englischen Original zu lesen, da in der Übersetzung einige Pointen verloren gehen.Wie alle Bücher dieser Autorin bietet auch das Chinese-English Dictionary nicht nur Einsichten in die chinesische Kultur, sondern auch einen Spiegel unserer westlichen Verhaltensweisen. Die Begegnungen der beiden so unterschiedlichen Traditionen werden mit einem hohen Maß an Sensibilität und auch mit viel Humor dargestellt. Eine empfehlenswerte und überraschend leicht zu lesende Lektüre.

Although all Westerners frequently encounter Orientals in society, it is extremely difficult for them to imagine the difficulties a Chinese person has in understanding the European mentality. The author explains literally in her own words her experiences with the British way of life and with her British lover. A fascinating and eye-opening read. Highly recommendable.

Language is culture, thus a culture clash is best represented as the struggle with getting the language right. And, unsurprisingly for anyone from anywhere confronted with English, the protagonist's struggle is mostly one way, attempting to master/manage English. I love the way the reader is forced to think about language, norms and phrases and differences.The story of a Chinese girl in England - and we learn a lot about China and England, in a very entertaining yet bittersweet way. Great book!

Unschuldiges Chinamädel, 23, kommt nach London, um ihr Englisch zu aufzubessern. Zieht bald zu einem älteren Späthippie. Dann per Interrail durch Europa.Die Ich-Erzählerin liefert schöne Vergleiche zwischen westlicher und chinesischer Kultur (Beziehungen, Familie, Mann-Frau, Privatsphäre, Essen, Ausdrucksweisen, Geld). Ein Großteil ist in kaputtem, niedlichem Asien-Englisch geschrieben, erst gegen Ende wird es etwas besser (ich hatte das englische Original).Ich habe es zügig runtergelesen, auch wenn ich nicht ganz zufrieden war: Einige Episoden wirken reichlich konstruiert, nur damit noch eine Ost-West-Konfrontation reinpasst (The Guardian: "There's too much tell and not enough show"); die Ich-Erzählerin geht fast durchgehend in einen Englisch-Kurs, doch sie erzählt kaum davon und ihr Englisch verbessert sich lange Zeit auch nicht; gelegentlich nutzt sie viel zu komplizierte Ausdrücke, die nicht zum vorherrschenden Kinder-Sprech passen.Man hat den Eindruck, dass die Verfasserin - die mit 22 von China nach England zog - ihre eigenen Erlebnisse in diesem Buch konzentriert hat. Dazu gehört auch Gelegenheitssex in Berlin, Faro und Venedig; müssen wir das alles erfahren? Das Kino spielt eine etwas zu starke Rolle (die Verfasserin studierte Film). Auf jeden Fall ein interessantes Buch, wenn man sich für England, China und/oder Ost-West-Beziehungen interessiert.

Since the previous review already covers the story i will skip that and just get straight to my opinion about this book. As an Eruopean living in Asia i can relate to this topic very well. It was extremely fascinating to see the straggle with a different culture from the opposite side. The beginning of the book is very funny and the main character encounters the typical problems one has to face when moving to a different country. Especially the parts about the language where hillarious. Learning Mandarin myself makes it easy to understand why she has difficulties in certain points. Then the book gets "deeper", more intense and serious. Her struggle with the relationship was the most fascinating part of the book. How it starts, changes and eventually fails. The very sad ending doesnt change the impression of a very enjoyable book. But also deeply moving...

Die Beobachtungen der jungen Chinesin in Europa sind sehr lustig und unterhaltsam. Eine gewisse Erfahrung mit China/Chinesen ist bestimmt hilfreich, um das zu genießen. Im Laufe der Zeit rücken die Beziehungsprobleme in den Mittelpunkt. Dass die Protagonistin bei einem vollständigen Versager gelandet ist, ist mit ihrer Unerfahrenheit leicht erklärt. Dass ihr das im Laufe der Zeit und sogar noch im Epilog nicht bewusst wird, blieb mir rätselhaft.

Das Buch erzählt von einer jungen Chinesin, die nach England geschickt wurde um Englisch zu lernen. Dabei werden wir zu Lesern ihres eigenen Wörter- und Liebes-Tagebuchs. Zum Teil urkomisch, die britischen Eigenarten aufdeckend und mit einem hohen Maß an Erotik ist es ein großes Vergnügen dieses Buch zu lesen. Besonders Frauen werden ihren Spaß daran haben. Es gehört zum Stil des Buches, dass sich die Sprachfähigkeit der jungen Chinesin von Seite zu Seite verbessert und vervollständigt. So kommt man gut in die Diktion und die chinesische Logik hinein. Die Übersetzerin des Englisch-Chinesischen Wörterbuchs für Liebende hat sich Mühe gegeben, die Entwicklung der Sprache ins Deutsche zu übertragen, jedoch geht dabei ein hohes Maß an Sprachwitz verloren. Ich habe das Buch zuerst auf Deutsch gelesen und mich ständig geärgert, dass ich es nicht gleich in Englisch gekauft habe. Es ist ein ungleich größerer Genuss, die Originalversion zu lesen, auch für im Englischen ungeübte Menschen, denn die Sprache ist - einer Chinesin gemäß - einfach gehalten, die Fehler gut verständlich.Kauft nicht die Deutsche Ausgabe, wenn es irgend geht, nehmt die Englische. Die ist supergut!

schöne Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema "east meets west". Leider etwas gar zu sehr literarische Nabelschau als dass ich es wirklich gut finden könnte
